The Kidling loves ice. And superheroes. And penguins. And she’s pretty darned confident. So to The Mama and The Dada, this chilly declaration last week wasn’t entirely out of left field:
“I won’t even froze like an ice cube if I’m in Antarctica. Just. Because. I have, like. Superpowers.”
I for one am absolutely sure that Alice has super-powers…
Undoubtedly, Mimi. Including getting away with murder.
I don’t doubt that she has super powers. 🙂 And what a cool super power she has, to never froze even in Antarctica!
And isn’t that just the sillest super power to choose?
I love how “I have, like, Superpowers” makes it clear that she’s internally rolling her eyes at having to state something so obvious.
Now that is a keen observation, Kathy. I do believe you are correct.
The phrasing made me think of a 14-year old on the phone with her friend.
I do try to capture her rhythm with commas, periods, and ellipses, even when entirely grammatically incorrect. It sounds like you heard this one in your head exactly as Alice said it. It is more than a little terrifying.
