Hey there. Have you heard yet that it is Baby Kidling week on the book of alice?
No? Then you need to pay closer attention. Seriously. There will be a quiz, you know.
As you recall, The Mama got herself a fancy new job, so I decided to write a week of stories about a time when I had only an inkling how ridiculous my child would some day be. It
might or might not be is absolutely designed to ensure I don’t:
- Worry about what I am going to write, and then
- Rush to my trusty silly-log (aka notebook) for recent entries, before
- Noticing how low said silly-log is stocked with quotes, and
- Realize it is because she is at pre-school five days a week now, before finally
- Bursting into tears.
Good plan, no?
So, here we are.
February 2010, 25 months old
Always the self-sufficient child, Alice decided on this fine day to pick up her chair. The Mama knew this was a recipe for disaster. So, I told my darling child, “Alice, please put that down. Mommy or Daddy will carry it. Who should carry it? Mommy or Daddy?”
To which she responded, “Or Alice.”
I think that is called ‘generating alternatives.’ And it did. not. work.
